There is an overwhelming power in love. It can inspire men to perform daring feats. It can give a woman the strength to lift a car to save a trapped child. It can save people from the brink of self-destruction. It can transform marriages, families, communities, cities. There is nothing that is immune from transformation by love.
The bible talks extensively about love. One of my favorite verses comes from 1 John 4. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
The purpose of this blog is to help spread God's love to the world. Whether one person reads it, or twenty, does not matter. What matters is that I am keeping myself accountable to choose love every single day. There is nothing more perfect than God's love. Although we can never reach his unconditional type of love, we are called to bring Heaven to earth. In doing so, we must try our best to be constant examples of love.
Love is what Jesus was known for. Time and again He loved those that no one else would love. His love was so radical, it restored souls and turned lives absolutely upside down. The whole bible is a love story. I am called as a follower of Christ to take part in this Love Revolution that Jesus has exemplified. Throughout this blog, I hope to challenge myself and others to actively engage in choosing love.
What does it mean to choose love? It means to say yes when you see an opportunity to help someone else instead of making excuses. It means responding in love, not out of anger, fear, contempt, disgust, jealousy, or other negative emotions, when faced with difficult circumstances. It means building people up with your words, not tearing them down. It means loving the unreachable. It means offering forgiveness when your emotions deceive you into wanting to do otherwise. It means making sacrifices of time, money, energy, and emotion to help someone in need. It means finding the good in a situation where there seems to be nothing but turmoil.
Love is a choice. A daily choice. It is something we must constantly choose time and time again. There are many times that we will fail; many times we will make the wrong choice, but we must always keep trying. We must ask for the help from the Holy Spirit or we will get exhausted. We must pray to God, for we could never do this on our own accord. But in the end what would bringing Heaven to Earth really look like? It would look a lot like love. I want to be part of a generation known for it's radical love. I'm starting with myself. I hope you will be inspired to join me!
